What is the ACENE natural cosmetics certificate?
We present the official certificate from ACENE (Spanish Association of Organic and Natural Cosmetics).
ACENE is a Spanish non-profit organization, founded on February 1, 2014, which certifies cosmetic products from brands that have paid the annual fee to the certifier.
Its seal guarantees that these products comply with the standards established by the association.

ACENE (Spanish Association of Organic and Natural Cosmetics) is a certification entity that offers a seal for cosmetic products.
ACENE's initiative (one among others) arose from the lack of clear regulation in natural cosmetics, or so they say. Many brands used terms like “natural” or “organic” without meeting real criteria, which caused confusion among consumers. To bring order, ACENE created a certification guide based on European regulations, in collaboration with approved and accredited technicians.
ACENE certifies natural, organic, and vegan products and aligns with the international Cosmos Organic standard, which emerged in 2002 during the Biofach fair in Nuremberg. At that meeting, the main certifying bodies agreed to work under a single standard to guarantee equal conditions, sustainability, and effectiveness in cosmetic manufacturing.
One of the foundations of ACENE's certification is its ethical commitment: products endorsed by its seal are not tested on animals and must meet a series of strict requirements that respect its values.
The certification process includes reviewing all product documentation, verifying manufacturing processes, and analyzing the development and research of formulas. All under internal protocols and specific criteria aligned with official legislation (Royal Decree 85/2018 and Regulation (CE) No 1223/2009).
In summary, the ACENE seal acts as a consumer tool against possible deceptive marketing strategies.
It has also become another marketing tool, which helps communicate brands' commitment to transparency. However, obtaining this certification entails an economic cost, as brands must pay for it, which can affect the final price of the product.

According to its criteria, certified cosmetics cannot use:
- Synthetic colorants, preservatives, and perfumes (aroma must come from pure essential oils).
- Ethoxylated ingredients, silicones, or paraffins.
- Mineral oils and petroleum derivatives.
- Chemical pesticides and toxic herbicides.
- Ingredients of animal origin.
- Parabens, PEG's, and synthetic emulsifiers.
- Camphor and synthetic preservatives, with the exception of Sodium Benzoate, Benzoic Acid, and Potassium Sorbate, always with a prior assessment of their natural origin.
- Substances subjected to radiation or genetic alterations (GMOs)
A very important aspect that ACENE also evaluates is packaging; its priority is respect for the environment along with skin health. All packaging must be recyclable, for example: glass, aluminum, paper/cardboard PP, PET, PE… legal packaging must be used according to European regulation CE 1223/2009 with its coherent safety assessment, traces, migrations, etc.
These standards are what have made Natvral Lavde positively assess that its cosmetics are manufactured under these requirements, as they align with its brand philosophy.
But that's not all, for a product to have the Official ACENE Certificate:
- A natural cosmetic product with the ACENE NAT seal is considered to have 99% of its total composition natural or organic in origin. Only 1% of legitimate preservatives are allowed.
- An ACENE BIO cosmetic product is considered to have 95% of its components from certified organic origin. In the final composition, at least 20% of the total must be from certified organic ingredients.
The cosmetics from Natvral Lavde use natural and organic ingredients and eis intended for demanding consumers and professionals in the sector who seek excellence. ...............................................................................................
We know that more and more people are looking for cosmetics with organic seals.
And that's why we prefer to tell you with complete transparency: our products do not carry the ACENE (Spanish Association of Organic and Natural Cosmetics) certificate.
ACENE is a non-profit organization that has been certifying natural cosmetics through external audits since 2014. To obtain its seal, brands must pay an annual fee of €400 + VAT, thus increasing the price of the final product.
We share that same philosophy of respect for the skin, of course.
But we have chosen a different path in our laboratories:
Transparency, visible INCIs in each product, honest ingredients, effective formulas, no toxic ingredients, and traceability that you can follow without the need for decorative labels that make the product more expensive and add nothing beyond the packaging.
Because in the end, what really matters is not the seal.
It's how your skin looks when you use it and the results you get.
