Are you sure that all the cosmetics you use have not been tested on animals? Do you know exactly if they do not contain ingredients of animal origin? So that you can answer these questions correctly, I am going to give you some simple guidelines so that you understand the meaning of these two terms.
Are your products Cruelty Free?
One of the most important points to take into account to know if a product meets the Cruelty Free condition is that it contains the seal that certifies it on its packaging. Furthermore, practically all of them are made up of a rabbit-shaped icon.
Cruelty Free products are characterized by the fact that in none of the phases of the product development process have they been tested on animals. Just because a product is Cruelty Free does not mean that it is also vegan because there are products that are not tested on animals and contain ingredients of animal origin, such as honey, eggs or milk. Although there are times when we tend to confuse the terms, a Cruelty Free product is not necessarily vegan or vice versa.
It must also be taken into account that there are some companies that manufacture in other countries and that benefit from different international regulations. If a company exports its products to other countries that do require testing on animals such as China, it would not be complying with its Cruelty Free policy in Spain, it would only be a marketing strategy depending on each country. Therefore, I advise you to look at the origin of the cosmetic to ensure that it meets the standards required by Spanish legislation.
Are the products you use Vegan ?
Now we know what a Cruelty Free product is, what about vegan? A vegan cosmetic is a product that does not contain ingredients of animal origin or derivatives. For many people, this automatically means that the product has not been tested on animals and as we have mentioned before, this is not the case. It may have been tested on animals, but it does not contain any animal active ingredients, so you would not be using Cruelty Free cosmetics.
And this is not all, there is even more, not all vegan cosmetics are also natural cosmetics. Although it is the most common, I suggest that you pay attention to the ingredients that each product contains to know if it is also natural or if they use chemical and synthetic products. To do this, you can check if it has its quality seal which ensures that it does not contain anything that is not vegan or natural.
Natural-vegan cosmetics have greater absorption power, they do not use chemical or artificial components, as well as petroleum derivatives. They adapt better to any skin type without causing irritation or allergies.
Natural-vegan cosmetics:
- With its ingredients it stimulates the skin's innate ability to regenerate.
- Protect and respect the environment.
- It has a higher concentration of active ingredients and avoids filler ingredients.
- It is suitable for all skin types, especially suitable for sensitive skin.
With all this, natural-vegan cosmetics are much better for our health than conventional ones, since they offer us great benefits for beauty without using chemical substances, as well as petroleum derivatives and paraffins. If we add to this the Cruelty Free seal, we will take care of our skin and the environment, taking advantage of all the benefits that nature offers us without harming the planet.
If we all become aware of the importance of these certifications we will be part of the process of improving the planet.
If you want a 100% ethical cosmetic, you must make sure it is vegan and Cruelty-Free and for this you have Natural Lavde, where the environment and animal welfare are some of our basic principles.
